Extended Edition!

Our never-ending quest for essence and wisdom in our TV viewing habits have finally come to this: does anybody ever wonder why there is a complete lack of brains on TV nowadays?

Some of the posts on this board seemed to unite on a single factor that affects all: the problem of scraping a wee bit of butter over too much bread. The problem of too little soldiers guarding too-wide lands. The problem of EXTENDING SOAP OPERAS into unbelievable proportions! The networks, for the sake of profit and the almighty buck, extend their stories, re-writing it so that it would be longer, adding in unnecessary plots and characters just to give their top-rating soaps a longer screen life... sacrificing story elements and importance in the process; turning a promising daily show into a senseless daily soap opera.

I have friends from ABS-CBN (though I despise ABS up to the ends of the earth, I do not despise my friends) who told me that one of the reasons why some people still prefer the absolutely despicable Pinoy Big Brother over Sugo. They told me that a single, easy story element which should have finished withing five minutes into the show is extended for up to three days!

Sugo. Encantadia. Darna (my bloody God!). Yes, even Kampanera. These writers should take extra lessons.
